Carnival of Grauno and of Valda
Shrove Tuesday
As the legend tells, all the young men in the village, on the night of the Epiphany, must hang small pine trees around the fountains of the town. A few days before Shrove Tuesday the largest pine-tree in the area is chopped down and trimmed of its branches and carried to the village.

It deals with the historic celebration of the ancient and traditional feast dedicated to the coming back home of the shepherds from the pastures. In fact they used to go back home adorning the cows and the sheep with flowers in order to announce the "desmalgada", which meant the end of summer and the beginning of another period: the autumn.

The manifestation organized with the collaboration of the House of Artists G.Vittone and of the Ville del Monte Committee, proposes moments of history, culture and folklore of our valleys. Theatrical and dancing performances and folkloristic shows will find their perfect setting in the small square of the medieval village, in the garden and in the inside of the House of Artists and in other characteristic localties of the valley.

A festival of food among a festival of traditionsskip. The dense forests stretching as far as the eye can see seem to be the ideal home of fairies and witches. One of these was Brava Part, a witch who, though not fair of face, was, anyway, a kind soul and is still a favourite with the local inhabitants. Every year Folgaria remembers this nice character in a rich and enthralling festival.

The origins of this festivity are linked to the devotion of Our Lady of Carmel. Religious traditions coexist with moments of pure entertainment including games, cultural events, dancing, street stalls and food. One of the features is the "Palio dei Musati", when eight donkeys, with riders representing the districts of Primiero, race through the streets of the centre.

Feast of the Assumption
The craftsmen, guarding some traditional activities, play the main characters and Tonadico's town represents the ancient everyday life. In fact the most important aspect is the so called "filò", the meeting place preferred by women with their wool winders in front of the stove, where they used to tell stories and legends while men were working out.

Transacqua, Sloiza Competition
Second Half of August
The "sloiza" is a large wooden sledge that farmers once used to transport hay from the huts in the mountains to the haylofts in the village. On this occasion the teams from the Primiero villages compete in a race pulling sledges laden with hay through the streets of Transacqua. The contest also offers the chance to tast the local specialities prepared in the small squares of the village and to see the trades of the past.

The very nice "Brise" Feast, dedicated to the Boletus edulis, the excellent cep mushroom growing in the Vanoi's woods. The program is full of important cultural and gastronomic moments.

It is the most suggestive and popular event of the cultural ladin tradition. Sometimes propitiatory actions were staged, such as the masquerade of ploughing or of wedding, or the magic “old women’s mill”, a metaphor of life which flows in the opposite direction.

Te Anter i Tobié  - Wandering around the old chalets is an event of cultural relevance, which implies a revival of traditions, usages and local customs. Exceptionally, on this occasion, the old ’tobié’ (the Ladin word which means hayloft) will relive through the rediscovering of ancient crafts and traditions, bringing people back in memories.

Canazei, Gran Festa da d'Istà

An event to discover the traditions of the Ladin culture. A great parade of folklore groups, representing all the Ladin communities spread over the Alps, is held in Canazei. The events are interspersed with opportunities to taste the local cuisine.

The organization "Ristora Moena" proposes even this year the gastronomic weeks in some of the best and known restaurants in Moena and in the whole Val di Fassa, increasing step by step their own success thanks to the refined and special dishes and to the qualified products used. The restaurants proposes 4 special menus strongly connected with the Ladin culture and the colors, the flavors of this romantic season: the autumn.

Canazei. This event is the most important eno-gastronomic meeting worldwide. Since seven years it links the art of the Dolomite's nature with the art and the culture represented by the winegrower's products. The association of the winegrowers in Trentino unites small manufacturers whose main concern is the high quality of their products and that therefore represent a niche of large economic and tourist interest.

Historic commemoration taking place every summer in the old town of Predazzo and unwinding through the narrow streets, where the tourist can go back into the past times thanks to the atmosphere of the ancient habits.

Woodman Feast
September
The traditional "Woodman Feast" takes place, as always, on the first Sunday of September in Molina di Fiemme and it is organized by the Wonderful Community, together with the Municipalities of Castello and Molina di Fiemme and with other organizations. This special event attracts the attention of many people increasing its success every year. Thanks to this race many woodmen can challenge and compare their skills in several activities concerning their job. During the day there are different entertainments: the holy celebration, then music, dance, games and gastronomic products.

La desmontegada de le càore" - Cavalese

It deals with the historic celebration of the ancient and traditional feast dedicated to the coming back home of the shepherds from the pastures. A tradition that goes back into the annals of time: great bonfires light the valley in celebration of the end of the agricultural year. Locals gather in the square to toast with vin brulé and fresh-roasted chestnuts.

Fondo, On the way to Santiago de Compostela
24th July
In the 15th century a terrible plague wiped out almost all the inhabitants of Fondo and the seven families that survived vowed to go on a pilgrimage to Santiago di Compostela. The journey is recalled in this event with theatrical performances and fireworks, music, jesters and craft markets. An attractive ceremony involves some characters in costume, who stand the statue of St. James on a raft and let it glide away on the waters of Lake Smeraldo.

Cavareno, La Charta di Regola
Beginning August
The event recalls the ancient communal statute approved by the Prince Bishop, which contained the rules for the life and work of the Cavareno community. The event includes a "country contest", a period costume parade, the reading of the document and tasting local specialitites.

Every year during carnival, the imperial couple, the Princess Sissi and the Emperor Franz Josef, return to entertain and be entertained with the guests, dancing to the romantic tunes of the Viennese waltzes or venturing out on skis along the slopes. Their arrival is heralded by festivities, followed by a important and aristocratic, imperial cortege in carriages, of course.
