Luserna

It is the only German (cimbro) village remained in Trentino, and for this reason it is a place you must visit to discover an ethnic isle that has kept its cultural heritage almost intact. In past times (around the XIII century) these land were inhabited from the ancient population of "cimbri". The territory is divided into the Tablelands of Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna, together with the Lessinia, the Vicentine zone, the Val di Terragnolo and the Vallarsa.
In next centuries there were always more frequent relationships and exchanges with Italian people, that slowly led the "cimbra" culture and language to discover. Luserna, is the unique exception. In fact this village has kept its architectonical structure coming from the German tradition, as example there are the steep gabled roof  and the sharp garrets. As well the language, a dialect originated from the ancient German, has been unchanged. This is the reason why Luserna is the most southern ethnic isle of the Alpine area.
The village gives also the hospitality to the Mocheno-Cimbro Cultural Institute Museum. From Luserna it is possible reaching Fort Luserna (or Fort Cima Campo), and then arriving near the mountain hut Malga Millegrobbe, where are reconstructions of the trenches of World War.
